Teddy Swims, born Jaten Dimsdale, is an artist who defies easy categorization. With roots in Atlanta, Georgia, he's a genre-blending phenomenon, effortlessly fusing elements of pop, soul, hip-hop, and R&B. His journey from a makeshift bedroom studio to a record deal with Warner Records is a modern-day fairy tale, propelled by a voice that's as versatile as it is captivating.

Who is Teddy Swims? The artist's name  is an acronym for "Someone Who Isn't Me Sometimes," a nod to his multifaceted creative personality. Born on September 25, 1992, in Conyers, GA, Swims was influenced early on by his grandfather, a Pentecostal preacher. Although he initially played football, music was his true calling, inspired by a diverse range of artists from Stevie Wonder and Marvin Gaye to India.Arie and Frank Ocean.

After graduating from high school, Swims sang in local hard rock bands and lent his voice to various projects, including cover bands at wedding receptions, metalcore outfits, and collaborations with hip-hop artists. In 2019, he performed with Tyler Carter, the lead singer of the band Issues, and his close friend Addy Maxwell, expanding his audience and musical repertoire. At the same time, Swims was also part of a funk-rock band, Elefvnts, and a country-influenced hard rock act, WildHeart.

His career took a pivotal turn on June 25, 2019, when he posted a cover of Michael Jackson's "Rock with You." The video quickly went viral, leading to a series of covers including "You're Still The One" , by Shania Twain, with massive 145m views. This newfound fame caught the attention of Warner Records, who signed him in January 2020. His first original song, "Picky," was released in both acoustic and electric versions, followed by "Broke," which featured Thomas Rhett and appeared on his 2021 EP "Unlearning."

Swims' debut album, "I've Tried Everything But Therapy (Part 1)," was released on September 15, 2023. The album's first single, "What More Can I Say," served as a precursor to the full project, which has received critical acclaim. His single "Lose Control" marked his first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at No. 67. The album secured a 61 placement on the U.S. pop chart and made the Top Five in Australia and New Zealand.

Managed by Luke Conway, Swims has been strategic about his career. He's collaborated with veteran songwriter-producers like Julian Bunetta and John Ryan, refining his voice and artistic vision. His song "Lose Control" is a standout, considered by many as a "golden egg," a culmination of years of hard work and artistic exploration.

Beyond the music, Swims has mastered the art of social media. With millions of followers on platforms like Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook, he's built a community that extends far beyond his music. His YouTube channel alone has over a million subscribers, serving as a hub for all things Teddy Swims, from music videos to behind-the-scenes footage.

His live performances are another layer of his multifaceted career. Currently on a 43-date North American tour, Swims has proven that he's not just a studio artist but a performer who can command a stage. His shows are experiences, complete with elaborate stage setups and a live band that adds a new dimension to his music.

As for accolades, while specific awards may not yet be on his shelf, the numbers speak volumes. With over 870 million global streams and a social following that exceeds 10 million, Swims has achieved a level of success that many artists can only dream of. And he's done it his way, without compromising his artistic integrity.

Looking ahead, the future is bright for Teddy Swims. With the release of his debut album "I've tried everything, but therapy", he shows no signs of slowing down. Whether it's his soulful voice, his genre-defying style, or his authentic personality, Teddy Swims has captured the hearts of millions. And this is just the beginning.
