Tyla captivated audiences at The Voice live finale with a dynamic medley of "Water" and "Truth or Dare," marked by a steamy performance, striking outfit, and a blend of fiery visuals and traditional South African dance moves.
Rising pop superstar Tyla delivered a stunning performance at The Voice live finale on December 19. She captivated the audience with a medley of her hit song "Water" and her new single "Truth or Dare." The performance started with Tyla questioning her lover during a phone booth call: "Hold on... Did you say you're on your way?", as "Truth or Dare" began. Joined by a group of 8 professional dancers, Tyla then proceeded with an electrifying dance, showcasing her trim body, before transitioning to her global hit 'Water' against the waterfall backdrop.
Things got a lot steamier here: "I can keep my cool, but tonight I'm wildin' / I'ma be, yeah / In a dangerous mood, can you match my timing?" The set then transitioned again; we had a stage in flames, while water poured over Tyla and her troupe. The scene was straight out of a movie, perhaps rated 18+.
And shall we take a moment to appreciate Tyla's outfit? This time, Tyla switched her signature braids for natural curls, dressed in a lacy top and short skirt, accompanied by fur shoes. It's as if a young Daenerys Targaryen was South African... and she looked phenomenal.
While some viewers praised the rising star for embracing her sexuality and South African roots with the inclusion of mapouka moves (a modernized version of an indigenous dance with fast booty movement), others admitted it may have been too revealing for a family TV show.
Whether the criticism was deserved or not, see for yourself. Other guest performances included a medley of "Yes I'm a Mess" and "Bang!" by AJR, along with Teddy Swims' "Lose Control.
