Chris Grey is an alt-R&B artist from Toronto, born on September 12, 2001. With his Jamaican roots and an early introduction to music through his father, DJ Ferno of Soul Sensation, Grey was immersed in music from an early age. He began experimenting with production at 11, teaching himself guitar, bass, and keyboard. These formative years laid the groundwork for his unique sound, a blend of haunting melodies, dark romantic themes, and moody atmospheres.

By the time he was 17, Grey had amassed production credits for both indie and major-label artists, including contributions to the JUNO-nominated album New Mania by 88GLAM. Grey was ready to share his own music with the world. His debut EP The Beginning, released in 2018, was an entirely self-made project, recorded and produced in his home studio. The EP’s track "Unusual," which featured Oscar Rangel on guitar, highlighted Grey’s talent for combining intimate lyrics with cinematic production.

In 2020, Grey followed up with his second EP Falling Apart, which delved deeper into his emotional and sonic palette. The lead single "Reasons" continued to build his audience, setting the stage for what would become a major breakthrough in his career: performing for the Recording Academy’s Grammy Press Play series in 2021. His live rendition of "Seamless" was praised for its fusion of R&B, rock, and classical elements, a perfect showcase of Grey’s artistic range. This was a pivotal moment, placing him in the spotlight and giving him significant recognition.

By 2022, Grey had released yet another EP, Together, but Barely, featuring the duet "Dancing On The Edge" with Allegra Jordyn, who not only collaborated behind the scenes but also became a romantic partner. Their chemistry, both personal and professional, shines through in this project, marking an important chapter in Grey's creative evolution.

October 2023 marked a new chapter in Grey's career as he signed with Rebellion Records, founded by singer-songwriter and electronic music producer PLVTINUM.

In January 2023, Grey released Shadows, a project supported by FACTOR and the Government of Canada. This release came in three parts—Chapter I: Desire, Chapter II: Fallen, and Chapter III: Always. The trilogy is a deep dive into darker emotional territories, with standout tracks like "Run" and "Different," and the fan-favorite "Make Up."

Though Chris Grey had already garnered respect in the industry, it was his collaboration with PLVTINUM and Dutch Melrose on the track "Jennifer's Body," along with their subsequent tour, that propelled him to a broader audience.

The release of Let The World Burn on March 8, 2024, was a major turning point in Grey’s career. The song amassed over 33 million views on YouTube for its lyric video, and the official music video featuring Nevada gained another 11 million views. On Spotify, the track’s 116 million streams solidified its place as a massive hit.

His debut album, THE CASTLE NEVER FALLS, released on October 18, 2024, serves as the culmination of his artistic journey thus far. The album features 14 tracks, including fan favorites like "Make The Angels Cry," "Cold Blooded," and "Always Been You." New tracks like "The Castle," "Gemini," and "Guarded" add emotional depth and further reflect his cinematic, atmospheric style.

Grey has often cited The Weeknd, Drake, and Chase Atlantic as his biggest influences, admiring how they combine raw emotion with innovative production. He has also drawn inspiration from producers like Illangelo and OZGO for their ability to create emotionally driven music, particularly Illangelo’s work on House of Balloons.

In addition to his musical accomplishments, Grey has also shown exceptional skill in photography and cinematography, personally directing all of his music videos. His visuals perfectly complement the moody, atmospheric tone of his music, adding another layer to his creative identity.
